Some folks will say that an aluminum trailer is a better deal than a steel trailer. Truth of the matter is that there are pluses and minuses for both steel and aluminum. Steel rusts, aluminum corrodes and “Gatorshield™” tubing lasts for a very long time. “Gatorshield™” is salt spray tested for 2016 hours before showing any signs of rusting as opposed to 192 hours for G60 galvanized tube and 576 hours for hot dipped galvanized which is the standard that galvanizing is held to. That’s a whopping 10 times better than G60 and 3 times better than hot dipped. Steel does not fatigue like aluminum, especially the welds. Steel trailers weigh up to 20 percent more than aluminum trailers but they are 40 percent stronger.

All of our trailers have reinforced fiberglass roofs, painted high gloss reflective white inside and out, with an aerodynamic nose that reduces drag and increases fuel mileage and we all know how important that is in this day and age of very expensive fuel. Fiberglass doesn’t conduct heat or cold making for a cooler or warmer trailer, depending on whether it’s summer or winter.

Our steel trailers are painted, inside and out with two component paint systems over an epoxy primer that allow you to pretty much match any colour you would like, unpainted aluminum trailers’ finishes oxidize very quickly to a dull silver colour and with pre-painted aluminum, you can’t get a colour match, unless it’s white. Oxidized aluminum requires acid washing yearly to keep its shiny appearance, which is expensive and doesn’t help our environment much either. Our two component paint systems are what your truck is painted with and we don’t have to say very much about how long that finish lasts.
